I named my dog Argus (Odysseus’s dog) but always call him Gus. I think what this says is that I don’t think ahead about people maybe assuming I’m a pretentious jackass and then get a little embarrassed.

My girlfriend’s parents have two German Shepherds, Zoe (six years old) and Kona (2.5 years old). I don’t know the reason behind Zoe, but Kona is named because we/they all love Hawaii and he was born a few days before we went to Maui for vacation.
